Ever mindful of the welfare of its members, the Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation (SNIPEF) has chosen abbey Fuelcards as its partner in helping its members to reduce their vehicle running costs. With a reduction on national average pump prices of 2p to 3p per litre the abbey Fuelcard enables members to purchase fuel at competitive prices without the need to search out lower-priced outlets, particularly those based in the more remote regions of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Reduction in fuel cost was not the only reason that abbey Fuelcards was chosen. With its network cover, efficient management and customised reporting, the abbey Fuelcard was assessed by SNIPEF as the partner most likely not only to assist its members financially but also to improve the service offered by the Federation to those members.
The competitive advantage
abbey Fuelcard members are advised on a weekly basis by fax, SMS, post or e-mail of the set price for fuel for the coming week. Regardless of the location of the operator – be it inner city or rural outpost – the same rate is offered for all sites detailed in our directories. Federation members based far from fuel depots now have a competitive advantage.
Freedom of choice
abbey offers three types of fuel card
- euroshell, which has outlets on most major trunk roads and covers 1/3 of the UK motorway service areas
- fastfuels, offering both discounted petrol and diesel from approx 1400 Texaco Service Stations Nationwide.
- diesel direct, accepted in over 1000 outlets across the UK and offering fixed price(diesel)
Depending upon the fuel used, the type of journeys undertaken and the roads used, each member can select the most appropriate card for the business. The abbey Fuelcard networks cover the whole of the country supported by the major brands, so long journeys from the base present no problem.
No VAT worries
A major advantage of the abbey Fuel card is that it complies with the latest requirements for reclaiming the VAT paid on business fuel. Alan Wilson, Commercial Officer for SNIPEF, was well aware of the VAT problem when he chose abbey Fuelcards as the partner to offer his members. 'With tightening of regulations from the EU, many of our members were having problems with Customs and Excise over the repayment to employees of cash fuel transactions. The abbey Fuel card solves this problem. Additionally with an average spend in the order of £250 per month on vehicle fuel, each of our 750 members will benefit from lower-than-pump prices and from reduced administration costs of their fuel accounts by virtue of abbey’s customised reporting.'
